Friston Baptist Chapel    

Friston Chapel is situated in a beautiful part of Suffolk between Leiston, Saxmundham, Aldeburgh and Snape.

Friston is an Independent Reformed Baptist Church where the Authorised Version of the scriptures is exclusively used in worship and preaching. We use Gospel Hymns as our main hymnal and worship is conducted in a reverent manner.

We encourage visitors to bring a packed lunch and stay for fellowship between the services

Mid-week
5-6.30pm Monday Club (5-11 year olds)

7.30pm Tuesday Prayer and Bible Study (currently via Zoom)

Pastor Harley
Pastor Michael J. Harley
Our Pastor, Michael J. Harley, has been a minister of the Gospel since 1959, serving in a number of Baptist causes commencing at Aldeburgh, Suffolk. He read classics at King's College, London, and theology at St. Catherine's, Oxford (Regent's Park College). From 1989-1995 he was assistant minister at the Metropolitan Tabernacle, where he taught New Testament Greek at the London Reformed Baptist Seminary. He is the author of Swift to its Close, a booklet of daily Bible readings for the terminally ill. Pastor Michael Harley became a member of the General Committee of the Trinitarian Bible Society in 2004.

Children's Meetings
Monday Club (term time)

For 5-11 year olds from 5-6.30pm

Each Monday during term time children aged 5 to 11 are welcome to join our Monday club. Monday club activities include cooking, games and crafts and a Bible talk All Monday Club leaders are DBS checked.  

The location for the Monday club may vary according to the activity. For more information about attending, please email us.

Free Bibles

Free Bibles are available at any time from the box placed outside the chapel. If you are in the Friston area and would like to have a copy of the Bible, you would be very welcome to take one.


Sunday School

For 5-12 year olds at 2.00pm on Sundays at the chapel: Friston Baptist Church Mill Road, Friston, IP17 1PH

Free transportation to and from Sunday School can be provided for any children in the Saxmundham or Friston area.

Children attending aged 5-12 are welcome to join the afternoon service at 2.00pm, which includes a children’s talk. They leave during the service for Sunday School which includes singing and a lesson from the Bible
